A Parent's Guide to Schools in Lehi, Utah

Lehi is one of the fastest-growing cities in Utah County, and a lot of that growth is tied directly to its schools — families move here for Alpine School District's track record and for new schools keeping pace with enrollment. Here's what you should know if you're buying a home in Lehi.

1. How the School System Is Organized

Right now, Lehi schools are part of Alpine School District, which serves much of northern Utah County. That structure is changing in the next couple of years: the district will be reconfigured into three new districts with new names and boundaries as of July 1, 2027.

What that means for you as a homeowner:

Boundaries can shift. Lehi High School and Skyridge High School split their boundaries back in 2016 when Skyridge opened, and as new schools are built and attendance grows, the district periodically studies and adjusts boundaries again, especially in fast-growing areas like West Lehi.

Check your address, not just the map. Whenever you're house-shopping, it's smart to plug the specific address into the district's boundary lookup tools or call the district to confirm which elementary, middle, and high schools it feeds into.

When we work together on a purchase in Lehi, I always confirm the current and potential future school assignments so there are no surprises after closing.

2. Public Schools in Lehi

Lehi currently has six elementary schools, three junior high/middle schools (Lehi Junior High, Willowcreek, and Viewpoint), and two high schools (Lehi High and Skyridge High) serving the city, plus two tuition-free charter options.

The public schools generally get "above average" ratings compared to the rest of Utah, based on third-party review sites like Niche, which pull test scores, parent reviews, and other performance data — Niche grades Lehi overall an A-minus for families, among the stronger marks in Utah County.

What parents usually ask me:

"Are the schools overcrowded?"
Growth is an ongoing issue across Lehi and the rest of North & West Utah County. Alpine and the upcoming new districts handle this by adding new schools and adjusting boundaries — Skyridge High itself opened in 2016 specifically to relieve overcrowding at Lehi High. When we look at a neighborhood, I check whether your future school is projected to stay within capacity or flagged as a concern in recent boundary studies.

"How long is the commute to school?"
Most Lehi neighborhoods are within a short drive or bus ride of their assigned schools. Because many parents also work right here in Lehi's Silicon Slopes tech corridor, we also look at how drop-off and pick-up will affect your daily routine.

3. Charter School Options

If you're looking for smaller class sizes, specialized programs, or a slightly different approach than the neighborhood school, Lehi has a couple of tuition-free charter options:

Renaissance Academy (K–9) – A charter school in Lehi serving kindergarten through 9th grade.

Ascent Academies of Utah – Lehi (K–9) – A charter campus in Lehi, also serving kindergarten through 9th grade, part of the broader Ascent Academies network.
